KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) would resume its operations soon in northern Kudnuz province, an official said on Thursday.
UNAMA public information officer in Kunduz Shamsuddin Hamidi said their office would resume operations soon.
He said the office had already started airing its civil education programmes over the past two weeks through radio stations and TV channels, informing people about the office duties and activities.
He said first of all they would consider a safe place for their office before other sections of the office could start operating in the province.
He said the building of the office was torched during the fall of Kunduz City to Taliban and all the equipment stolen.
A civil society activist, Hafizullah Rasuli, said most local and foreign orgnaisaitons were awaiting the UN office to resume work. Without UN activities, other NGOs were unable to operate, he said.
