Germany pledges 25m Euros for Afghan jobs

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has announced 25 million Euros in aid for Afghanistaninfo-icon to help the impoverished country create jobs for its people.

The pledge was made by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Dr. Gerd Müller during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani in Berlin, a statement from Ghani’s office in Kabul said.

The German minister said his country would assist the Afghanistan national fund with 25 million Euros in order to provide jobs for the Afghans.

Müller reaffirmed his country’s nearly 500 million Euros assistance each year with Afghanistan until 2020.

Both sides agreed that Germany would conduct a conference in the next six weeks about investment in Afghanistan and finding proper market for Afghan agricultural products, the statement added.

They also agreed on cooperation in capacity building of Afghanistan’s construction, energy and agricultureinfo-icon sectors and enabling Afghans to go to gulf countries on legal ways as professional labourers.

After the meeting, President Ashraf Ghani flew to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, the statement added.
