Govt servants launch cleanliness drive in Gardez
GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Government servants on Friday launched a cleanliness campaign in this capital city of southeastern Paktia province.
They decided to launch similar campaigns on bi-weekly basis in the city, the deputy governor, Abdul Wali Sahi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
While urging local people to participate in the cleanliness effort, he said they would all of resources in hand to keep the city clean.
A resident of Gardez, Rahman Gul, said they were ready to take part in the campaign, but said the government should increase facilities for local residents.
Gardez Mayor Syed Ahmad Safi said they would continue such campaigns in future. He said different projects costing 90 million afghanis would be executed in Gardez next year.
The mayor said they had also launched construction work on some reads in the provincial capital.
