Preparations for Heart of Asia conference reviewed
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Senior Pakistani political and military leaders have reviewed preparations for the Heart-of-Asia conference being hosted by Islamabad next week.
Regional and national security was discussed during the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad, his office said in a brief statement.
Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua, ISI chief Rizwan Akhtar, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi and others were in attendance.
A diplomatic source, meanwhile, told Pajhwok Afghan News Islamabad, using the opportunity, would urge Ghani to resume peace talks with the Afghan Taliban.
Senior officials from 27 countries, including the United States, Russia, Iran, Turkey and China, will attend the moot, to be opened jointly by Ghani and Nawaz.
