130 graft-tainted MoI officials referred to attorneys this year
KABUL (Pajhwok): So far 130 Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials have been arrested and referred to attorneys on corruption charges this year, an official said on Monday.
Director General Investigation Department at the MoI, Maj. Gen. Rahimullah Borhani, told a press conference here that they had investigated 1135 corruption cases of police officials since March 22, 2015 (the beginning of current solar year) and referred 130 corruption cases to the attorney offices in different parts of the country.
Seven policemen had been sacked, 15 policemen warned, 40 others transferred and two cases had been referred to criminal investigation departments during the year, he said.
He added there were some other corruption related complaints, but they were yet to be investigated due to a lack of evidence.
Regarding the existence of ghost police personnel, he said a delegation in this regard had traveled to all provinces of the country and would release its detailed report in near future. “On the basis of investigation by the team, fake policemen are not in the numbers as claimed in media,” he said.
