2 Afghan Air Force trainees reported missing in US
KABUL (Pajhwok): Two Afghan Air Force (AAF) students, attending s training course in the Georgia state of America have disappeared, CNN reported on Wednesday.
Assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron, the trainees did not report for duty on Monday at Moody Air Force Base. Their names, however, were not given.
The students have trained alongside American counterparts for the entirety of 2015 and do not pose any apparent threat, base officials were quoted as saying.
Federal authorities are trying to locate the students. Last year, according to CNN, three Afghan army officers disappeared in Massachusetts before reappearing in the custody of Canadian border guards.
In a statement, base officials said the two men have been at Moody since February 2015 and "were screened prior to their arrival in the United States more than a year ago."
