7 killed in Jalalabad suicide attack by foreign woman
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three children and an intelligence operative were killed in a suicide attack by a foreign national close to the National Directorate of Security (NDS) department here on Friday, an official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News NDS personnel captured nine foreign nationals, including five men, a woman and three children, in Daronta area of Jalalabad, on Thursday night.
He said the woman detonated her explosives when they were getting down the NDS vehicle. The blast left three of the detained children, the woman and an intelligence officer dead.
Out of respect, the woman was not searched by intelligence staff after her capture, according to the gubernatorial spokesman, who said the foreigners spoke Russian and likely belonged to Central Asian republics.
Five other detainees are currently under investigation in NDS custody to ascertain which group they belong to. There has been no reaction yet to the incident from the spy services.
