Islamic State finance chief confirmed dead in Iraq airstrike
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic State’s finance chief has been killed in a US-led coalition airstrike in Iraq, an American military spokesperson claimed on Thursday.
Muwaffaq Mustafa Mohammed al-Karmoush, also known as Abu Salah, was killed in recent weeks, Col. Steve Warren said in a videoconference from Baghdad.
Saleh was one of the most senior and experienced members of the group's financial network, the spokesman said, adding Aby Maryam and Abu Rahman al-Tunisi were also killed in the raid.
The fatalities came in late November in Tal Afar area, according to Warren, who said: "Killing him and his predecessors exhausts the knowledge and talent needed to co-ordinate funding within the IS."
