Burkah district chief dead in Taliban attack
PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Taliban have gunned down administrative chief of Burkah district in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Saturday.
Deputy Police Chief Col. Abdul Rashid Bashir told Pajhwok Afghan News that Abdul Jabbar Islami was on his way to Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital, when attacked by the armed Taliban in the Bala Dowri locality.
He said the Burkah district chief was killed in the attack and that assailants took his vehicle.
An individual who dubbed himself as the local Taliban leader claimed responsibility for the killing of district chief. In a telephonic conversation he said the Taliban took his vehicle as booty.
