‘Guests’ murder 8 of a family in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Eight members of a family have been found dead in their home under mysterious circumstances in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
The incident took place last night in Mira Qala area of the district, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the family of Yousaf, originally from southeastern Paktia province, had been living in the area for the last five years.
Last night, according to Khogyani, three guests visited the family and were served dinner before the family went to sleep. The guests then murdered the entire family including five children as young as two months old and five years old. The dead included Yousaf, his wife, mother and five children, the official said.
The killers fled after the incident and locked the house from outside. The incident was reported to police by the family’s neighbours, Khogyani said, adding police had launched their investigation.
Separately, two person allegedly linked to the Islamic State group have been arrested by intelligence officials in an area near Jalalabad, the provincial capital, the provincial National Directorate of Security said.
A 30 kilograms bomb has been recovered from the detainees who wanted to emplace the explosive on the main highway, the spy service said, adding the detainees were being investigated.
