Karzai renews call on Afghan youth to avoid migration
KABUL (Pajhwok): Former president Hamid Karzai said on Monday other countries did not develop with the help of foreign aid, but with sustained and non-stopped efforts.
Addressing a gathering marking International Migrants Day in Kabul, Karzai said the Afghan youth could develop their country with their plans, saying Europe and other countries were not good than Afghanistan where huge work opportunities existed.
Reports say as many as 150,000 Afghans, including women and children, have travelled to European countries to seek asylum.
The former president said: “We should not expect the neighboring countries that they will bring peace and stability to us.” He said the Afghans should work hard to rebuild their country.
He expressed his optimism about the launch of the TAPI gas pipeline project and called it not only regional but national project having much for the Afghan youth.
