Murder of family of eight widely condemned
KABUL (Pajhwok): The mysterious murder of eight members of a single family in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province was widely condemned on Tuesday by high ranking government officials and civil society activists.
Nangarhar officials said the dead included five children as young as two months and five years old, the father, mother and grandmother. They were found dead in their house in Mirzad Qala area of the district on Monday when local residents informed police about the incident that apparently took place on Sunday night.
Three men, who had been guests with the family, have been accused of killing the family members and police have detained two persons in connection with the murder.
Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms, calling it against all Islamic, human and Afghan values.
He said the enemies of Afghanistan once again showed their utter disregard for humanity and that they would not miss any chance to commit gruesome crimes.
Abdullah directed all security forces and Nangarhar provincial officials to arrest the killers as soon as possible and bring them to justice.
National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar also strongly denounced the incident and said President Ashraf Ghani had directed the Ministry of Interior to arrest the perpetrators and produce them before the court of law.
Similarly, first deputy CEO Mohammad Khan also condemned the incident and said the enemies of Islam and humanity wanted to spread terror in the hears of people by committing such heinous crimes. He also directed the security organs to arrest the killers and bring to justice.
Interior Minister Noorul Haq Ulomi and Border and Tribal Affairs Minister Gulab Mangal and the governor of Khost province, Hukam Khan Habibi, also condemned the murder of the eight family members in Behsud.
Ulomi directed the security officials of Nangarhar and Paktia to thoroughly investigate the incident.
