WB provides 298 agri-machineries in aid to Afghanistan
KABUL (Pajhwok): The World Bank has provided in assistance 298 agricultural machineries worth 73 million afghanis to the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), an official said on Tuesday.
The equipment and machines included tractors, seeds processing machines, threshers, sprayers and others to be used for research purposes in Herat, Balkh, Kunduz, Bamyan, Helmand, Kandahar, Baghlan and Takhar provinces, MAIL Minister Asadullah Zamir told a gathering in connection with the equipment handover.
He said the machineries had been procured based on needs of different provinces and hoped the equipment would help increase seeds production and would mechanise the agriculture in the country.
Zamir said they had recently purchased 300 different types of agricultural machineries which would be used in research farms in various provinces. Employees of research farms would be trained on how to use the equipment, he said.
