3 civilians among 6 shot to death in Jawzjan clashes
SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): At least six people, including three civilians, have been killed during separate clashes in northwestern Jawzjan province, an official said Saturday.
Provincial police chief Col. Abdul Hafiz Khashi told Pajhwok Afghan News three young men were shot dead by two armed motorcyclists in front of a shop in the Kukuldash village of Faizabad district.
He said the militants managed to escape after the overnight attack. But the Taliban, in a statement on their website, claimed the three were Afghan Local Police (ALP) members.
Mohammad Ismail, a local resident, insisted the victims were local farmers who had no jobs in ALP. He explained relatives of the victims were serving as ALP personnel.
Elsewhere in the province, two uprising members were killed in Aqcha district. Col. Khashi said uprising commander Murtaza was shot dead along with a supporter by the militants.
A Taliban rebel was also shot dead in retaliatory attack, he added. In this incident too, the Taliban said, the two men were ALP members.
