Suicide bomber held before striking Indian consulate
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Police have captured a suicide bomber sent by the Taliban to attack the Indian Consulate in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
The would-be bomber identified as Nasir belonged to Tagab district of central Kapisa province, the spokesman for the Nangarhar governor, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the alleged suicide attacker was detained in the limits of Jalalabad, the provincial capital, where the Indian Consulate is located. He said the detainee had confessed to his intention of attacking the diplomatic mission.
But there has been no word from the Taliban in this regard.
More than two years ago, a Taliban attack on the Indian consulate killed eight civilians and injured 22 others.
