President Ghani arrives to red-carpet welcome in Baku
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, heading a high-level delegation, arrived on Tuesday in Baku, for talks with Azerbaijan's top political leadership.
The president received to a warm welcome from high-ranking officials, including the prime minister of Azerbaijan, on his arrival in the Azerbaijan capital, local media reported.
A contingent of Azerbaijan's armed forces presented a guard of honour to the president at the Heydar Aliyev Airport. A statement from the Presidential Palace said Ghani would hold separate meetings with his counterpart Ilham Aliyeve and Prime Minister Artur Rasizade.
During the meetings, issues of mutual interest would come under discussion and both leaders would focus on how to expand the existing bilateral ties. The president would also meet the parliament speaker and other officials during the daylong trip.
Ghani is accompanied by Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabani, Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, Mines Minister Daud Shah Saba, Transport Minister Mohammadullah Batash, Public Works Minister Mahmood Baligh, Energy and Water Minister Ali Ahmad Osmani, Urban Development Minister Syed Sadat Naderi and other officials.
Azure route and bilateral cooperation in diverse fields would be the main point of discussion during the daylong trip, a statement from Ghani's office said.
