No contact with Russia against Islamic State, say Taliban
Two days ago, Russia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov told the Interfax news agency about contacts with the Taliban against IS.
But Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the group neither needed assistance from nor contacted anyone over dealing with Daesh.
The Taliban had been in touch with regional countries regarding the war against the United States in Afghanistan and it was their right to do so, Mujahid added.
“Some people are misusing the name of Daesh, with certain domestic and foreign intelligence networks supporting them to further their own interest,” the spokesman alleged.
He claimed the Taliban had warded off the threat from Daesh to some extent. Currently, IS fighters were active in parts of a province but that was not any issue of concern, Mujahid concluded.
