7 insurgents, 2 police dead in Zabul firefight
The clash broke out on Saturday morning when a group of insurgents attacked workers of a road construction company in Nawkhez area, provincial deputy police chief Ghulam Jilani Farahi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The ensuing clash between the attackers and police lasted three hours, he said. He said seven attackers were killed and five others wounded. Two policemen were also wounded during the firefight.
But a security official in the area said two policemen had been killed and a third wounded during the clash. He said the feeling insurgents left behind three dead bodies of their colleagues and a car. The workers escaped unhurt, he added.
There has been no word from the Taliban about the incident.
