Suspected Pakistanis among 7 insurgents killedin Paktika
SHARAN (Pajhwok): Seven Taliban were killed and 11 others wounded during a clash with the Afghan Local Police (ALP) in the Orgun district of southeastern Paktika province, officials said on Saturday.
The clash erupted on Friday night when the rebels stormed ALP checkpoints in the Pirgoti area of the district, the deputy police chief, Col. Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Seven fighters including their commander were killed and 11 other insurgents wounded in the firefight, he said.“The bodies of two fighters having Pakistani identity cards in their pocketsare still lying at the scene.”
One local policeman was also killed and second wounded in the gunbattles, said a resident of the area, Juma Khan. The ALP also seized some weapons and ammunition.
However, Taliban spokesmanZabihullah Mujahidsaid the fighters had killed four ALP personnel and injured three others as a result of attacks on their checkpoints.He confirmed the loss of some arms and ammunition.
