New Paktika PC secretary holds ‘fake academic documents’
SHARANA (Pajhwok): The attorney’s office head in southeastern Paktika province on Sunday said a member of the provincial council had been accused of possessing “fake academic documents.”
Attorney Asadullah Waziri told Pajhwok Afghan News that Hanifa Katawazai had allegedly made fake high school graduation certificate that she had submitted with her nomination papers to contest last year’s provincial council elections.
Waziri said in response to letters from the Attorney General Office and the Election Complaints Commission, the provincial attorney office had sent two letters to Katawazai to appear before the attorney office, but she did not turn up.
A source in the provincial council told Pajhwok Afghan News that Katawzai had never attended school and she could not read or write but she had been able to win a seat on the council thrice using fake documents.
Katawzai was on Saturday elected as secretary of the provincial council during the long-delayed administrative board elections.
Attempts at seeking comments from Katawzai did not succeed.
The Paktika council has nine members, including two women.
