Iranian citizen rescued after spending 40 days in captivity
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have rescued an Iranian national who was kidnapped 40 days AGO in western Herat provinceon Monday, an official said.
Local officials said that Akbar Baklari, while driving on the road to the Kahsan district of the province, had been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
Ihsanullah Hayat, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Baklari was rescued during an operation by intelligence forces in the district.
No one was detained in connection with the kidnapping, but security forces were looking for the Iranian’s captors, he added.“The rescued man was handed over to the Iranianconsulate in Hera.”
Baklari said he was seized 40 days ago by unidentified men from his truck, whilecoming from Iran to Herat City.
The man added he was taken to an unknown place. Baklari did not provide any information whether or not the kidnappers had asked him for ransom.
