Kabul suicide bombing leaves 1 dead, 33 injured

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): One person was killed and more than 30 others, including children, were wounded in a suicide attack in the limits of the 9th police district of Kabul Monday morning, an official said.

The bombing took place in the northern part of the Hamid Karzai International Airport on the Meteorology Department road at around 8:00am, police said.

Public Healthinfo-icon Ministry spokesman Syed Ismael Kawosi confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News receiving one dead body and 33 injured people, including 18 children and four womeninfo-icon, from the scene.However, he said nothing about the condition of the injured.

Earlier in the day, Kabul police chief, Lt. Gen. Abdur Rahman Rahimi, today told reporters that one person was killed and 13 others, including women and children, were injured in the car bombing.He said the incident took place close to NATOinfo-icon forces’ compound.

However, eyewitnesses told Pajhwok Afghan News several civilians were killed and wounded in the attack. Resident Najmuddin said the incident took place when children were coming out of a madrasa. He claimed most of the injured were children.

A Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack and said the target was a convoy of foreign forces. He added several foreign troops had suffered casualties in the attack.
