2 killed, 15 wounded in Kabul guesthouse attack
KABUL (Pajhwok): At least two people were killed and 15 others wounded in a suicide attack on a guesthouse used by foreigners in Taimani area of Kabul on Friday evening, an official said.
Earlier, Ministry of Interior’s 119 police helpline chief Humayun Aini told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack took place on a French guesthouse on the ninth street in jurisdiction of the city’s fourth security district. Without going into details, he said three people were wounded in the attack.
But Kabul police chief Abdulrahmad Rahimi said two civilians had been killed and another 15 wounded in the attack.
Sources Emergency Hospital in Kabul said they had been delivered 15 wounded people and a 12-year-old injured boy lost his life on the way to the hospital.
Pajhwok Afghan News video reporter Ibadullah reported from the scene that the guesthouse, "Le Jardin," caught fire after the blast, but no gunfire could be heard.
Zubair, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack took place around 5pm and that he heard gunfire following the explosion.
The house of presidential advisor on financial affairs Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal is also located on the same street.
Earlier, a security official said it was a group attack targeting a restaurant used by French citizens.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility on their Twitter account for the suicide attack, taking place on the first day of new year.
