Selection body begins registering nominees

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The selection committee has started registering individuals to be nominated as commissioners on the two electoral bodies, a member of the panel said on Sunday.

According to the committee members, interested candidates are required to submit their qualification documents, a copy of Tazkira to the body’s secretary office form Sunday till January 13. The aspirants have to fill out a specific before submitting their documents.

Selection Committee spokesman Fahim Dashti said the process of vetting documents of the candidates would be launched after the registration process was over.

The committee held its first meeting last Thursday and formally launched its work of introducing nominees as members-designate of the two electoral bodies to the president after meeting the unity government leaders this week.

Afghanistaninfo-icon citizenship, bachelor’s degree, decent personality, 35 years of age, no criminal record and at least 5 years of work experience in government and non-governmental organizations are main requirements for individuals applying for the posts.

According to Dashti, shortlisted nominees would be introduced to the president for approval.

Members of the committee during their maiden meeting had assured to work independently and keep the national interests supreme.
