15 Daesh militants killed in Nangarhar firefight
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Fifteen Islamic State or Daesh militants were killed on Monday during a clash with police in the Batikot district of eastern Nangarhar province, police said.
The clash broke out after the Islamic State gunmen attacked police posts in Farm Chahar area of the district at about 4pm, Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Soon after the attack, reinforcements of security forces rushed to the scene and the clash resulted in the killing of 15 attackers, with 11 dead bodies of the Daesh militants still lying in the area, he said.
Mashriqiwal said the security forces escaped unhurt during the firefight.
The self-styled Islamic State group has so far not commented on the incident.
