Abdullah off to Iran for talks on security, economic cooperation
KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah departed for Tehran at the head of a high level delegation on Monday, his spokesman said.
Mujib Rahimi told Pajhwok Afghan News Abdullah was being accompanied by his second deputy Mohammad Mohaqiq, ministers for trade and commerce and work and social affairs.
Ministers of information, transportand aviation, as well as head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) are also part of the visiting delegation.
Security, economic, cultural and social issues would top the agenda of meetings between the two sides, the CEO spokesman said. Some agreements on cooperation will be signed.
Abdullah is visitingTehran in response to a formal invitation from Iran’s vice-president. He will hold talks with the Iranian president, VP, parliament speakers and other officials.
He will also visit the Chabahar Port, in which the Indian government has invested over $200 billion. The project is perceived as a major boost to regional trade, facilitating Afghanistan’s exports and imports.
