Terrorism posing long, short-term threats, says Ghani
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has said terrorism poses short and long terms threats to global security and joint efforts are needed to eradicate the menace.
The president was talking to a US congress delegation led by Senator Jack Reed during a meeting at the Presidential Palace on Sunday evening.
Ghani and the US delegation discussed US-Afghanistan cooperation on different fronts, including terrorism, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
Both sides agreed to adopt a joint strategy against terrorism and extremism, the statement said.
The president said foreign aid was vital for Afghanistan’s development and his government was trying to attract foreign investment to ensure sustainable economic growth.
Ghani sought the US congress cooperation in attracting foreign investment in Afghanistan and in the creation of a suitable environment.
The congress delegation praised the unity government’s performance and assured the party’s support for Afghan security forces and the Afghan government’s policies.
