Blast near consulates in Jalalabad causes no casualties
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A low-intensity explosion occurred near foreign diplomatic missions in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, officials said.
The bomb went off in Jalalabad near the consulate buildings of India, Pakistan and Iran, causing no casualties, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Attaullah Khogyani said the target of the blast, which came two days an attack on the Indian consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif, was not immediately clear.
The bomb, placed in a garbage can close to Beet Nika Mosque in the Arzaq area of the third police district, exploded at11:20am,he added.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the bombing, which follows a standoff that began Sunday between police and gunmen holed up in a building near the Indian consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif.
