Afghan cricketers have tremendous potential: Prabhakar
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Afghanistan, blessed with tremendous potential, can have 50 percent of internationally renowned players, a former Indian all-rounder hopes.
In an interview published on Friday, Afghanistan’s bowling coach Manoj Prabhakar commended the team’s spirited performance in the final one-day match against Zimbabwe.
On Wednesday night, the Afghans outplayed the Test-playing nation to clinch the One-Day International (ODI) series at the Sharjah International Stadium.
“The Afghans have tremendous potential and if they continue to improve, the team can have 50% of champion players,” Prabhakar told The Pakistan Observer.
He also extolled Afghanistan’s head coach Inzamamul Haq for doing a fantastic job. Prabhakar called the former Pakistan skipper a good thinker and an ideal coach, respected by the team.
Prabhakar suggested the Afghans should concentrate only on ODIs and Twenty20s without thinking of playing Tests. “Our boys have not been playing 4-day games. They are more adjusted to aggressive limited overs matches.”
