Taliban-fired mortar shells leaves child dead, 10 wounded in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): One child was killed and 10 other civilians were wounded in a mortar attack by the Talibaninfo-icon on a security check-post in the Sabri district of southeastern Khost province, an official said on Monday.

Maj. Abdullah, spokesman for the 203rdThunder Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents fired mortars on the checkpoint in Sperkai area. One mortar shell struck a civilian home, he said.

One child was killed and nine people, including womeninfo-icon and children, were wounded in the incident. Abdullah said another civilian was wounded in a mortar attack in Alisher district.

Dr. Shahid, an employee of the Khost Civil Hospital, confirmed receiving seven wounded people from the site. He said the injured were in stable condition.
