Dacoits rob Faryab passengers of cash, valuables
The outlaws also searched women travelling on the buses between 8:00pm and 4:00am in two different locations and robbed them of whatever they had, drivers and passengers alleged on Thursday.
Hamidullah, a driver, said the dacoits stopped his vehicle at around 9:00pm in Payeen Kata locality. “They hit me with a gun butt, snatched my mobile, tore the bus cover and took away 40 bottles of cooking oil.”
He claimed the robbers had stopped four more buses in an area situated between two security check-posts, but police did not show any reaction.
A passenger, who did not want to be named, claimed some gunmen stopped the car he was travelling in in the same locality and took away everything he had. He said no one came to his rescue, with therobbers wresting 12,000 afghanis from him.
A security official, who wished anonymity, said police had visited the area where the robberies took place, but the dacoits fled before their arrival.
Najibullah, a trucker, confirmed the gunmen stopped transport buses in the area and asked passengers to their valuables. In case of refusal, theoutlaws beat up the passengers, he added.
Over the past two months, residents of areas on Maimana-Khawaja Sabz Posh and Dawlatabad-Andkhoi roads have complained of growing robberies and the presence of armed men, who bothered common people.
