2 killed in separate incidents of violence in Faryab
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A worshiper was shot dead by unidentified gunmen and a public uprising member lost his life to a roadside bombing in northern Faryab province, officials said on Friday.
A 35-year-old Hisamuddin was returning home from a mosque after offering esha prayers on Thursday night when gunmen opened firing at him at 7pm in Family area of Shirin Tagab district, the town’s administrative head said.
Syed Loqman Gahrik told Pajhwok Afghan News police immediately took the person to the Afghan-Turk hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
The victim was a poor person but he had been in a dispute over land with his cousin, a Taliban group leader who might be involved, the official believed.
He said police had launched their investigation but no one had so far been arrested in connection with the murder.
Meanwhile, one member of an anti-Taliban militia was killed and another wounded when a landmine blast. The two were on their way home from a nearby checkpoint when came under attack in Gorzad area of the troubled Sherin Tagab district, Gahrik said.
“The landmine blast occurred at around 5pm on Thursday, killing Khal Mohammad and injuring his comrade,” the district chief said.
