US designates Daesh’s Af-Pak wing as terrorist outfit
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The USon Friday declared the ISIL-Khorasan (ISIL-K) as a foreign terrorist organisation, imposing a series of sanctions on the group and its leaders.
Many former members of the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban are said to have joined ISIL-Khorasan (ISIL-K), whose creation was announced on January 10, 2015.
In Washington, the State Department said: "This pledge was accepted in late January 2015 and since then ISIL-K has carried out suicide bombings, attacks and kidnappings in eastern Afghanistan.”
The consequences of the designation include a prohibition against knowingly providing, or attempting or conspiring to provide, material support or resources to the organisation.
Under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Department of State announced the designation o ISIL-K as a terrorist entity.This week, the group attackedthe Pakistani diplomatic missions in Jalalabad.
