70 detained over various crimes in Herat
HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Police on Sunday said they had arrested some 70 individuals on charges of different crimes during the past 10 days in western Herat province.
Herat police chief Maj. Gen. Abdul Majeed Rozi told a press conference the 70 people included those facing charges of involvement in 66 terrorist attacks, kidnappings, robberies, murders, connections with Taliban, and drug trafficking.
Some of the detainees had been caught red-handed, some had confessed to their crimes and others were under interrogation, he said.
“We will show no mercy to terrorists, abductors, killers and Taliban and will not spare them. We will eliminate the terrorists,” he said.
Up to 890 kilograms of solid chemicals used in processing drugs, more than 100 litres of chemicals used in preparing alcoholic beverages, 10 Kalashnikovs and pistols have been seized by police during operations, he said.
