Takhar crime branch personnel detained for taking bribes
TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Three crime branch personnel of northern Takhar province have been detained over bribery, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Maj. Abdul Khalil Aseer told Pajhwok Afghan News the three officers were caught red-handed while taking bribesfrom a resident.
Without namingthe detainees, he said cases against the trio had been referred to the military attorney office.
“The Takhar police chief and governor have accelerated efforts to eliminate corruption; they have issued guidelines to banish the scourge,” he added.
Sunatullah Timori, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the arrests.He said the governor had activated a phone number, which people could dial to register their complaints.
“People can dial this number whenever a government servants demand bribes. The official seeking illegal gratification is followed and referred to the attorney office.”
