Islamic State’s recruitment wing members detained in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A four-membergroup of Daesh, or Islamic State (IS), rebels was busted in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday, officials said.
Provincial police spokesman Lt. Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants of Daesh’s recruitment wing were detained in Baland Ghar area.
“These four IS members are residents of Nangarhar province; they were motivating local youth to join theinsurgent in Afghanistan,” he said.
Mashriqiwal said the militants, currently under investigation, would be pressured to provide information about their accomplices.
He added the security forces also detained two insurgents on Torkham-Jalalabad highway and a militant commander in Momand Dara district.
He did not provide details about the nationality of the detained rebels but said weapons and ammunition were also seized from them.
On the other hand, Nangarhar police officials said a drug trafficker was detained along with 38 kilograms of hashish at a check-point in Behsud district.
Daesh and Taliban have not yet commented on the incidents.
