32 detained on drug smuggling charges: CJTF
KABUL (Pajhwok): Thirty-two individuals have been arrested by police in 14 provinces, including central Kabul, on charges of drugs and alcoholic beverages smuggling, the task force said on Monday.
A statement from the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said the accused had been detained in Kabul, Herat, Uruzgan, Zabul, Parwan, Helmand, Nangarhar, Faryab, Paktia, Kapisa, Logar, Kunduz, Jawzjan and Samangan provinces.
The detainees were subjected to CJTF trials, the statement said, without identifying the time period in which the drug traffickers had been detained.
More than 168 kilograms of heroin, 354 kg of opium, over 5.5 tonnes of hashish, 5 tonnes of chemicals used in making drugs, 3500 litres of alcohol, 23 vehicles and 33 telephones had been recovered from the smugglers, the statement said.
