Obama to Pakistan: Take more serious action against terror
In an interview with the Press Trust of India, he said Pakistan had pledged action against terrorists after a deadly attack on a school in Peshawar in 2014.
He said last week’s killing of students of the Bach Khan University in Charsadda district had underlined the need for a decisive crackdown on extremists.
While praising recent operations by Pakistani security forces, the US president said more determined steps were needed to eradicate militants outfits.
He added: "Pakistan has an opportunity to show that it is serious about delegitimising, disrupting and dismantling terrorist networks."
The campaign against violent extremists was "the right policy" but Pakistan "can and must" take more effective action, the president remarked.
