China pledges support for Afghanistan’s reconstruction
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): China on Tuesday pledged support for Afghanistan’s rebuilding, especially in constructing residential buildings in the conflict-devastated country.
China was ready to help the Afghans devise plans for infrastructure constructionand cooperate with efforts at livelihood improvement, the minister told reporters in Beijing.
CCTV, monitored here, quoted Wang Yi as saying: "China welcomes Afghanistan's willingness to join the Belt and Road initiative.”
The two nations agreed to sign an inter-government cooperation deal on jointly building the One Belt, One Road.
According to the TV channel, they also agreed on bilateral and multilateral counter-terrorism efforts for peace and stability in the whole region.
Rabbaniis currently on his first four-day visit as foreign minister to china. The trip also represents the maiden contact between Afghanistan and China in 2016.
Ahead of delegation-level talks, the foreign ministers greeted each other at the Foreign Ministry in Beijing. Last year, the two countries celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Afghanistan expects deeper cooperation from China in areas of reconstruction, trade, security and culture.
