NSC assesses security threats in 9 provinces
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Security Council (NSC) tasked security departments with finding resolution to security issues in nine provinces, the Presidential Palace said on Tuesday.
The NSC met on Tuesday under President Ashraf Ghani chairmanship and directed the security organs to take measures for improvement of security in Jawzjan, Balkh, Paktia, Uruzgan, Ghor, Zabul, Panjsher, Paktika and Kandahar provinces, a statement from the President’s Office said.
The meeting, briefed by the interior and defence ministers about the overall security situation of the country, assessed current security threats and instructed the defence and security officials to do away with the treats.
At the meeting, the governors of the nine provinces presented their detailed reports about security in their provinces to the president, who directed the departments concerned to resolve security issues in these provinces.
The council tasked security and defence organs with finding solution to security issues in consultations with the governors and presenting reports about their actions in the NSC’s next meeting, the statement concluded.
