Girls’ hostel inaugurated at Faryab University
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A newly-constructed building for girls’ hostel was inaugurated at the university in northern Faryab province on Wednesday.
The building cost more than $1 million funded by the Norwegian government, the university chancellor, Gul Ahmad Fazli, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The two-storey structure has 31 rooms, a conference hall, a kitchen, a garden and a play ground and has the capacity to accommodate 160 students.
Another hostel for 160 girls, a project funded by, the Ministry of Counternarcotics, was under construction on the campus, Fazli said, adding more than 700 other female students still needed accommodation facility.
Currently, nearly 7,000 students including 3,000 girls are studying in the university.
Faryab Governor Syed Anwar Sadat told the hostel’s inauguration ceremony that the building consumed more than $1.2 million, which had been provided by the Norwegian Royal government.
