Medicine store blown up in Khost, 1 dead, 5 injured
KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A bomb explosion inside a medicine store killed one civilian and injured five others in southeastern Khost province on Thursday, an official said.
Provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghirat told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion took place at around 12:00pm and killed a worker at the store and five civilians who were buying medicines.
The blast caused by a landmine which had been placed in the store, the police chief said, adding the store owner was not a government servant.
The police chief no one had been arrested in connection with the incident as an investigation went on.
Ahmad Gul, who owns an auto spare parts shop in the market giving an eyewitness account, said the store belonged to Painda Mohammad Khan.
The blast occurred inside the store’s laboratory, he said, adding that six people, including a doctor, were evacuated from the lab and rushed to private hospitals in vehicles.
There was no claim of responsibility for the blast.
