MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): More than 100 students have graduated for the first time from the literature and agricultureinfo-icon faculties of the university in eastern Laghman province.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the 113 students, Laghman university chancellor Abdul Saboor Ghaforzai said it was for the first time that students belonging to various provinces had graduated from the university.

Laghman governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi said the Afghan youth with their love for Islam, knowledge and pen could steer the country out of the prevailing misfortunes. He urged the new graduates to pursue further higher studies to be able to effectively serve their people and country.

The graduates were later distributed their degrees. The graduation ceremony comes the day a newly-constructed building for the university’s administration block was also inaugurated and put into service.

The governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the two-storey building took one year to complete and cost 10 million afghanis.

He said construction work on a cafeteria for students, a 16 million afghanis project, had also been launched on the campus. He said the cafeteria was being constructed with financial support from India in one year time.
