PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A woman and a child were shot dead by her husband while another woman axed to death in northern Baghlan province, officials said on Saturday.

A 35-year old woman along with her son was killed by her husband on adultery charges in the Deh Salah district, a resident of the area, Sher Murad told Pajhowk Afghan News.

The perpetrator who had links with illegal armed groups, managed to flee from the area, he said adding the woman left three children behind.

The two people were shot dead in a remote-village but security personnel have been trying to arrest the perpetrator and drag him to the court, the deputy police chief, Col. Abdul Rashid said.

Separately, another woman was axed to death by her husband due to family disputes in the Baghlan-i-Markazi district of the province, he said. Police have been interrogating the perpetrator.

“The couple had dispute over an issue two weeks ago, but the relatives and neighbours of the family dissolved their issue,” said Mohammad Laiq, a neighbour of the victim.

The woman was sleeping last night when her husband axed her to death, he said adding the neighbours of the family arrested the person and handed him over to police.

The director of womeninfo-icon affairs, Khadija Yaqin strongly denounced the murders and ordered the legal rights’ section of the department to investigate both the murder cases.
