Gharghakht TV wins month-long soccer event in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The Gharghakht TV has won a soccer event titled Khpal Watan, Gul Watan (Own Land, Floral Land) played in the capital of southeastern Khost province, an official said on Sunday.

A dozen of soccer teams, including six sponsored clubs, participated in the month-long tournament, Olympic Director Aziz Malangtold Pajhwok Afghan News.

Provincial council, municipality, transport department, Mediothek, Shamshad TV, Zhwandoon TV, Gharghakht TV, Killid, Soli Paigham, Wolas Ghag FM radiowere among the participating teams.

Malang said the objective behind the event was to stop youth from going to Europe and to encouragethem to stay in their country and contribute to its reconstructioninfo-icon.

PC and Gharghakht found their way to the final, which did not yield any result in the stipulated time. Gharghakht emerged champions on the basis of penalty kicks, he concluded.

PC Chairman Abdul Wali Wahidzai said they could continue cooperation with the Olympic Department in arranging sportinfo-icon events and promoting healthy youth activities.

“You see, many people gathered here to watch the game, something that helps prevent youths from drug addiction,” commented a player, Faizullah.
