Intelligence agents apprehend suspected terrorists in Logar
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel have detained four people, including a teacher and a prayer leader, on charges of terrorism in the central province of Logar, officials said on Monday.
The four were captured by the NDS agents during an overnight operation in Khadar Bazar and Darwesh villages on the outskirts of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, the governor’s spokesman said.
Saleem Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News the prayer leader of Darwesh village, Mir Khalil, and Logar Darul Uloom teacher Qari Shamsur Rahman were among the detainees, who were taken to Kabul for interrogation.
“Both Mir Khalil and Shamsur Rahman are my cousins who have no hand in terrorist activities. In fact, they are government employees,” said a resident of Darwesh village, Mohammad Nabi.
He asked the government to release the detainees before the locals were alienated by the NDS action. He also claimed two other people had been arrested in Khadar Bazaar area, but had no further information.
