4 policemen gunned down in Badghis insider attack
QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Nine policemen shot dead their four colleagues before taking away weapons and ammunition from their check-post in a vehicle in northwestern Badghis province, an official said on Tuesday.
The predawn incident happened in the Khairkhana locality of Qadis district, the town’s police chief Col. Mohammad Saber told Pajhwok Afghan News. The dead and fleeing policemen were residents of Ab-i- posts Kamari district, he said.
The Taliban are yet to comment on the incident. Earlier, dozens of policemen abandoned their checkpoint in Deh Rawood district and arrived in the capital of central Uruzgan province after developing differences with the district police chief.
Dost Mohammad Nayab, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News at least 60 policemen had arrived in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, late on Saturday.
A former provincial council chief, Amanullah Hotaki, said the policemen had been stationed in Zartali locality and they left their posts after a verbal clash with the district police chief.
