Abdullah pledges to address Afghan students’ problems
KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has assured Afghan students in India of resolving their problems.
Abdullah met on Monday representatives of Afghan students in different Indian universities at the Afghan embassy in New Delhi, a statement from the CEO office said.
Ambassador Shida Mohammad Abdali and student representatives highlighted the achievements and issues of Afghan students in Indian. Suggestions from students on how to address their problems were presented to the CEO.
Issues related to scholarships, payment of allowances in time, link with the Ministry of Higher Education, preparations before university admissions, visa issues, establishment of culture houses and recruitment were some of the main problems shared with Abdullah.
After hearing the problems, Abdullah instructed the embassy official to find solutions. He and assured the students the unity government would pay serious attention to addressing their concerns.
At a separate meeting, embassy staff suggested the opening of a consulate in Hyderabad and the appointment of business attaché in other cities of the country.
Abdullah asked embassy staff to struggle for strengthening relations between the two countries, as links with India were very important to Afghanistan, the statement added.
