LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A top army commander has been killed and three other security personnel have been wounded in a rebel attack on the Faizan Military Camp in the Greshk district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Tuesday.

But a reliable source in the Afghan National Army (ANA), who wished to go unnamed, said at least 17 soldiers, including Commander Atta Mir, were killed in the overnight attack on the camp between Nawzad and Greshk districts.
According to the source, four security personnel were wounded while nine others had been missing in the attack, claimed by the Taliban. With the Maiwand Military Corps yet to comment on the deadly attack, the militants say nine security personnel were killed.
