28 Daesh fighters killed, 10 wounded in Nangarhar operations
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Twenty-eight Daesh, or self-style Islamic State (IS), insurgents have been killed and 10 others wounded over the past 24 hours in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Saturday.
Sixteen IS militants were killed on Friday as a result of airstrike on a car and a hideout in the Pekhi area of Achin district, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A dozen other Daesh fighters were killed and 10 others wounded on Saturday morningduring operations in the Dwasari and Syed Ahmadkhel areas of Kot district.
A woman was wounded as a result of gunfire from guerrillas during the operations, Khogyani said, adding the security personnel escaped unscathed.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Ministry of Defence said Daesh rebels attacked checkpoints of the Afghan Local Police in the Dwasari area of Kot districtat 4am.
The personnel of the Selab Military Corps of the army reached in time to support the ALP and inflicted heavy casualties on Daesh attackers, the statement added.
